The Burley Lions are a amateur rugby league team playing out of Burley-In-Wharfedale, near Leeds. Formed prior to the 2007-2008 season by Martyn Foster and Matt Harrison they played there first season in the CMs Yorkshire league, finishing in a very respectable 4th position in division 4. For the 2008-2009 they moved over to the Pennine Amateur Rugby League.
ICB of Harrogate then took the decision to sponsor the club and and ensured the team had the equipment and finances to grow.
They finished the first year in the pennine league in Third place and were promoted to division six. The Lions then secured promotion to division 5 with back to back promotions, this year will see the Lions attempt a good finish in division 5 and hopefully some silverware.
